Thank you so much for your continued partnership with us in the advance of the Gospel on the campus of UW - Eau Claire! We'd love your help in prayer for two upcoming events. 1) Men's Advance is our 24-hour overnight for the men. It starts today. Please pray that the men would connect with Jesus and each other in new and deeper ways! We'll be focusing on Biblical Manhood and Purity. 2) Our Florida Spring Break trip is a few weeks away. We're in the middle of planning all the details involved in taking 80 students to Florida for a week of camping, Bible study, beach time and fellowship. Please pray for our planning and for students as they make decisions about joining us. Here's a promo video that some of our amazingly creative students made for the trip. Prayer Requests 12/02/2010

A Student Testimony 11/22/2010
A student friend in Illinois was recently baptized! He typed up his story of Christ's transforming love and gave me permission to post it here. What a privilege we have to participate with God in what He's doing! "I didn't grow up going to church. If asked, I would say I was a Christian, but I didn't live it out or care much about it. I thought that things about God would be taken care of after I die and that it was up to me to make myself happy in this life. I sought fulfillment in things of the world (friends, school, pleasures, self-image), but they never made me truly happy. I didn't feel like I was a person that anyone could love, because I wasn't good enough for them. I would often struggle with depression, not knowing where to find happiness. I came to think that finding a spouse would be what made me happy. So one of the few times I had ever prayed was the end of junior year in high school. I tried to make a deal with God, saying that if he gave me a girlfriend, I would go to church. Well, a little bit later, I got a girlfriend and started going to church. But I only went for about a month. We dated throughout my senior year, and I began to realize that not even a relationship can fulfill me. We broke up the summer before I started college. Around then I finally realized that nothing in the world would fulfill me. It was also around that time that someone I knew introduced me to the Navigators, a Christian ministry on campus. I went because I didn't really have any close friends left and I wanted to get a head-start on making friends in college. It was through them that I began to understand the gospel. That God loves me unconditionally; that I don't have to impress God or be a great person in order for him to love me; but that I could just place my trust in Jesus Christ in order to receive forgiveness of sins and know God personally. One of the staff members, Jeff, began to mentor me and take me through the New Testament. I had never read the Bible before, partly because I thought it was too long. But Jeff started me with one of the four Gospels, the Book of Mark, which is only about 20 pages long, so I thought I'd give it a try. It contains a full summary of the ministry of Jesus. As a result of this, I began to learn what it meant to be a follower of Jesus here in this life, and I gradually came to give him control of my life. Since then I have been growing in my walk with Christ, and there have been many changes in my life that reflect that. I've realized that I have a new identity. When I placed my trust in Jesus, I was adopted into God's family, so my status with other people doesn't really matter. My status with God is what matters. God loves me unconditionally, so I have begun to understand how to love other people in that way - to care for them not because of what they can give in return to me, but because they are valuable in the sight of God. Finally, God has given me fulfillment. I can be content without pleasures of the world, because it is God himself who is the only one who can ultimately make us happy. Life isn't always rainbows and butterflies, but I can truly say that I am content with my life, because Jesus is my greatest treasure. I can now wake up with a sense of purpose in the morning, knowing my new identity and eternal peace in Christ." Picture: UWEC Navs at The Weekender 10/26/2010
The Weekender 2010! 10/20/2010
This Friday to Sunday is our regional Navigators conference, The Weekender, at a camp in Osceola, WI. And it’s time to recruit our prayer warriors! The Weekender is a key event for our fall semester, important to our vision of equipping students to love and labor for Jesus: when students from 11 campuses in the Midwest learn powerful truths about their Christian walks, connect deeply with other students from their campuses, and are set up to grow and reach out for Christ the remaining school year. May we ask you, our friends and supporters, to pray specifically for Friday night? In addition to overall prayer requests: · - the health of all those in attendance - the many, many details of a conference this size (there’s about 340 registered) - camaraderie and genuine fellowship among students from each campus - staff as they prepare many seminars and workshops - Matt Letourneau, The Navigators campus director at U of Alabama, is our speaker - this year’s theme is “Fix Your Thoughts on Jesus” Friday night holds some specific needs for prayer: - safe travel to the Weekender for students and staff - quality bonding among students in vehicles - registration to run smoothly and with little hiccup - Friday night’s main session begins at 9:00 p.m., and is titled “Fixing your thoughts on the real Jesus”. - The Navigators blessing the camp throughout the weekend (our size makes for a lot of work for their staff!) And for our family. . . please pray that God would provide many opportunities for all four of us to get to know and love our students more! God bless you richly as you pray for us and the students we love! Jesus' Incarnation = Our Missional Model 07/12/2010
I'm really really enjoying Doctrine by Driscoll & Breshears. Here's another reason why it's well worth the time and effort to read it. "In most religions the holiest men are those who are most separated from culture and sinners. They live as monks and the like in remote areas, away from average people. Conversely, Jesus Christ came into the mess of human history and spent time in community with believers and unbelievers alike. Subsequently, religious people who separated themselves from sinners and cultures were prone to denounce Jesus for the kind of company he kept." Jesus Is A Better... 07/10/2010
![]() "Jesus is a better Noah who brings judgment of sin, salvation by grace to the family of God, and a new world free of sin and its effects. Jesus is a better Abraham, the blessing to the nations of the earth. Jesus is a better Moses as God's prophet who fulfilled the law for us, allows God's wrath to pass over us because of his shed blood, conquered our pharaoh of Satan, redeemed us from sin, and journeys with us toward home despite our sin and grumbling. And Jesus is a better David who is seated on a throne ruling as the King of kings and is coming again to establish his eternal and global kingdom of peace and prosperity."
